The Bauer Ranch is a working cattle ranch between Missoula and Butte, Montana, along the headwaters of Rock Creek and at the base of the Anaconda Pintlar Wilderness. The ranch has 10,000 acres bordered by forest service land on 3 sides. The land consumes three valleys each with a tributary of Rock Creek meandering through it's bottom. The mountain ridges between these valleys are home to hundreds of elk, as well as moose, bear, deer, wolves, and mountain lions. Due to large family ranches and the small rural population, this area has been virtually undiscovered by hunters and recreationalists. The ranch has been outfitted since 1994 and has been posted and patrolled for the past 38 years.
