"If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles" - Doug Larson

The Bauer Ranch is a 10,000 acre working cattle ranch located in the Rocky Mountains of Southwestern Montana. It proudly includes three of the tributaries of Rock Creek, one of the most famous fly fishing streams in the U.S. Our land and streams are constantly patrolled making the fishing (and elk hunting) always exceptional. We offer fishing packages for beginners to experts. Our packages can include complete fly fishing instruction and fully guided outings or any variance thereof. Trips also include home cooked meals and relaxation in our supremely comfortable log lodge. The ranch is run by the Bauer family whom will be happy to meet you and make sure your trip is full of fun and excitement. Your experience starts with great people and a perfect location.
There just isn't anything like fishing on Rock Creek. Rock Creek is best known for its beauty and consistency while providing fisherman with steady action throughout the season. Rock Creek is wadeable most of the season.
The majority of fish found throughout the tributaries include rainbow and cutthroat as well as dolly vardon and German brown. This blue ribbon stream has an amazingly high population of fish in the 10"-24" range. Rock Creek has been said to be ideal for the avid fisherman, from novices to experts. We also have lake fishing in the secluded East Fork reservoir.
As if the fishing wasn't enough, the ranch also includes the beautiful scenery of year round snow peaked mountains, wildlife, and most importantly cold trout waters. The ranch is located at the base of the Anaconda Pintlar Wilderness and is surrounded by U.S. forest service land.
The five story log lodge is located at the base of the mountains and is an ideal place for a retreat anytime of the year. The pond right out front is even full of fish for those first practice casts. Inside the lodge you will find cozy, private rooms, good home cooking (delicious rhubarb pie), and a huge living room and dinning room table for those big fish stories.
Early morning and in the evening you can see elk, moose, dear, wolf, badger, and even a bear of two wandering the meadow. The fifth story of the lodge includes a lookout with a telescope and several sets of binoculars for every opportunity to see these wonderful creatures in their natural setting. Summer weather is amazing with temperatures ranging form a sunny 70-80 degrees in the day to 40-60 degrees at night.
The second you enter you feel a weight lifted off your shoulders. What more could you ask for than your dream fishing trip where your every need is met with a smile and you are surrounded by incredible scenery, wildlife, and amazing fly fishing?
Other activities on the ranch include horseback riding, hiking, pistol and rifle shooting, horseshoes, motorcycle riding and more!
